History

The LOGIC Shared Logistics Group set up an industry Flight Sharing Trial in 2002. The purpose of the trial was to establish if there was a benefit to be gained by the UK industry in having an established mechanism enabling ad hoc helicopter seat sharing. Over the following three years a total of 25 organisations accepted the enabling documentation by signing up to the associated Deeds of Adherence and thereby gained the opportunity to take advantage of spare seats when required and of course when available. During the three years of trial it was difficult to know exactly how many shares were being enabled but for sure most of the signatories reported considerable benefit from having the capability.

By late 2005 it had become apparent that the industry valued the Flight Sharing capability and that it was worth expending the resource to transition from 'Trial' to 'Steady State'. During the trial comments about both the process and the enabling documentation were sought from the trial participants. In late 2005 and early 2006 these comments, where appropriate, were incorporated into revised enabling documentation.

This web site has been set up to facilitate the transition from 'Trial' to 'Steady State' and to act as a focal point for the Flight Share Initiative as it matures and becomes just another element of the delivery of safe and cost effective aviation logistics for the North Sea.
